forever & always
The leaves swirl, and the breeze ruffles my hair. He would have been so happy,
running in the leaves. I smile, letting
myself remember him. I remember laughing
as he ran through leaves and rolled in the grass. He slept at my feet as I
studied late into the night. He was an angel in the shape of my dog. My hands reach down to touch his long gone fur. I hate myself
for only remembering how his paws lost their colour, how the
smell of blood hung around the house, taunting
me.
I hate myself for only remembering that he had
to suffer so much.
