season

For Nisha, Mariyam, Rushali, Varsha and Bless <3
Also dedicated to my fav music channel on YouTube Mammal Man <3

season

 if they stay through your spring blossoming,
 and while the colours slowly bleed out of your leaves
  and you're left with scars of senescence
 and when you're stripped and raw in your january winters;
 then they're worth keeping.

school

For Swathy,
who misses school much more than I do.

I miss school.
I miss morning assemblies, and hymns.
I miss march past and dramatics practice.
I miss seeing the quadrangle filled with with screaming children.
I miss choir practice, and exchanging lunches.
I miss sneaking food under the desk, and lime juice from the canteen.
I miss tests and record work, and walking in the corridor.
I miss the whispered secrets, paper notes and the smell of sharpened pencils.
I miss the friends I made, the memories we created.

prayer

I pray that-
 you learn to live:
 and learn to let go;
 I hope that your heart
 does not cloud your judgement,
 and that you learn
 freedom has limits:
  and that true beauty is in the
 kindness in your eyes,
 the curve of your smile;
 I hope your feet find the road you are meant to walk;
  and that your heart finds the stories you are meant to finish.

assurance

I found my weaknesses while I was
 looking for my strengths;
 I found pain when I was looking for joy;
 and that's when I learnt that you will
 never truly know strength unless you've been weak;
 you will never know  joy until you've felt pain.

sunflower~

sunflower

 like the sunflower;
 with her crown turned towards the sun,
 her soul anchored in strength
 feeding on eternal light;
her scepter pointed to the sky.

A/N: This one is full of metaphors :) I hope this gets to you <3

if

If the whole world was blind, who would you impress?
~Boonaa Mohammed

if

 if the world was blind
 would you still paint pictures of love?
 if the world was deaf;
would you still sing of hope?

a single shard

For Ziona

a single shard

 when will you realise
 that even broken shards of pottery,
 unfinished verses of poetry,
 unsung songs and
 unread stories
 are reminiscent of the potter,
 the poet,
 the composer and
 the author
 of your faith?

mother

my mother

 my mother is behind the woman in me
 she is in the kindness of my heart
 but also in the fire burning in my eyes;
 she in the gold fillings of my cracked soul,
 in the silver linings of my dark clouds.

quotes: part two

snippets of thoughts

~
 her mind was like the oceans
 unreachable depths and crashing waves
 buried treasure and sunken ships;
 sailing ships and swimming sharks,
 pretty pearls and pink coral
~
  buried in her mother's womb
 she will never see the beauty of life;
 because she never had one.
~
 she was a free spirit.
 in the rustling of the leaves;
 the crashing waves
 and the crackling flames.
 she was everywhere.
~

A/N: Do tell me what you like best <3

amazon

                                                 amazon

soft velvet, fresh grass
 strength and beauty,
 warriors with
 the strength of the forest
 new life, old skin,
 dark and light
 mould and old ivy
 moss and mushrooms
 new chances, new leaves
 frogs and bee eaters
 from the earth
 and back.
